The Wedding Plan - The checklist


With the engagement contract in place, I have two years of planning on the timeline. Every single detail need to be jotted down and to complete it off with an execution. Planning for the big day is undoubtedly a mountainous task. A great event requires a plan and checklists. So it’s good Luck to me!

-          Engagement ceremony is over and I am officially engaged.
-          Choosing of wedding dates (Done)
-          Hire a professional wedding planner if necessary (if this is within my budget, yes I will)
-          Determine preferred wedding (I would prefer a combine wedding. It is less of a hassle)
-          Determine Location/ Venue ( Void Deck or Community centre)
-          Time
-          Menu/ Caterer (Need to source for a quotation)
-          Formality
-          Number of guests (about 500 to 1000 pax)
-          Determine the wedding budget  and how the expenses will be shared
-          Develop a record keeping system for the expenses ( Iphone application)
-          Grouping of Guest list ( Must be invited, should be invited and would be nice to invite)
-          Decide on the number of children (if necessary)
-          Select and book wedding venue (about 3 to 6 months in advance as the wedding will be in December)
-          Prepare necessary paperwork and file it up. This will be required for the wedding
-          Survey on bridal gown and groom’s attire
-          Determine the colors and décor theme and decide on the Dais design
-          Select and book photography. Outdoor/ Indoor photo shoot
-          Select the wedding party and bridesmaid
-          Book traditional wedding consultant like the Mak Andam for the hair and makeup
-          Entertainment (set the tones for the reception, e.g. Gamelan music, live band, Karaoke)
-          Responsibilities (Appoint family members and friend a task/ job at the ceremony)
-          Transportation ( Rent a car)
-          Order invitation cards
-          Source for wedding favors
-          Shop for gifts for each other (Hantaran gifts)
-          Do trial makeup and hairstyling. Source for wedding pictures as a reference
-          Schedule for hair treatment
-          Appointment with the orthodontist for teeth polishing and removal of braces
-          Shop for wedding accessories such as guest book, ring cushions, flowers
-          Select attire for the whole family
-          Select the color for the bridesmaid
-          Arrange makeup and accessories for bridesmaid
-          Plan reception layout and seating
-          Marriage course
-          Lose weight!!!
-          Start planning and packing for Honeymoon

As the day comes nearer, the list will just keep getting longer….haiz…
