Sunday

The ill fated Batam trip

The initial plan for the trip was planned for the whole Customer Service Department in the country office. At the last minute, there was an announcement that eCom team will be shifting to Business IT and we thought that we will be excluded from the trip. We were not!

Okay! I was keen on the idea of team-building to be held at the Universal Studios Singapore but majority of the staffs (Ermm mainly the ladies) opted for Batam ~ and I don’t understand why. Their main intention was the massage and shopping. Truthfully, I am actually quite sick or should I say very sick of going to Batam, Indonesia.

As majority wins, I know that I will be dragging my feet to wake up early in the morning which is at 5AM to be exact. How to be awake so early on a Sunday?

There he was, Mr. Jason waiting for me on the early Sunday morning as we had planned earlier to meet up for breakfast (at MacDonald’s) before the trip. Yummy hotcakes were served as I gobbled up my food hungrily!

Since when I wasn’t hungry ~ Ermm since we started dating, Andy and I have been eating continuously despite that commitment to cut down on our food intakes! The more we cut down on our food, the hungrier we get! Okay that’s beside the point, I was digressing! Hahahaha... I think we need to look into that seriously!

I was having a high hope that the teambuilding will be held in the Hotel’s event room or the ballroom so that I won’t feel sticky and get burnt under the hot sun. Hopes were dashed when the coach driver bought us to this huge barren of land with almost no trees and as expected the temperature was scorching and burning. It was damn hot! I could feel the stinging pain in the skin as I stayed there under the sun with no shelter for me to take cover. Damn! With no sunblock and a headwear, I went 2 shades darker! OMG!

Happy eCom team...Sexcited for the trip ...

Miss Pampered, Miss Kitty Cat, Miss Linda Lam...

Hahaha..everyone waiting unpatiently under the hot sun...

Dont be shy please hold hands!

With the famous and shy Abang Fauzi...hahahaha

The team had to put on their thinking skills...

try lifting the bucket of water without using your hands...

This is the hardest activity ~ trying to lower down a helium pole ..

yellow yellow dirty fellow ~

i hate this activity the most and i find it truly stupid!

Showing the rest on how this should be done...

when the boys had to fight over me...Just kidding! Boo!

My sporting boss showing us how to shake our booties...yummy!

That unsatiated lunch at Golden Prawn...

The whole team...hooray ..Going back to Singapore soon...

As we were having the activities, I just couldn’t stand the heat and I could feel my head was spinning but I managed to push it aside. I went over to the pit stop to grab a drink as I could feel that I was completely dehydrated.

As I opened up the packet of AQUA drink and began drinking, it tasted horrible! I just had to finish it up. Despite all that, this stubborn girl continued with the rest of the activities and bonding, oh well trying hard not to be a spoilt sport. We ran, we discussed under the sun, we planned and we execute trying hard to win it from the Grey team. Yes, we are the Yellow Yellow dirty fellows! Fair game indeed and it was a tied between the two teams. At least we didn’t lose to them!

Like finally after “suntanning” from 10am to 2pm, everything was over and it’s time to head off for lunch. Again this pampered kid had super high hopes that at least the food should be heavenly and divine to compensate for all the hard work during teambuilding! I was wrong again! Oi! How horrible can it get! The food at Golden Prawn totally sucked big time! The only dish that I enjoyed was the steamed fish while the rest of the dishes tasted either too salty or tasteless! Arghh! Even my coconut drink was tasteless! I don’t usually complain but hell ya! That day everything was not on my side for me! Boo!

The moment we reached Singapore, I heaved a sigh of relief ~ thank God I am back in my country and I am so definitely going to stuff myself with good food! I am so not going back to Batam again!

And guess what after that fateful trip, I was on a 2 days MC as the doctor told me that I was infected with a viral flu. The sickness was worsening my health conditions as it didn’t get better for about 2 weeks. Thankfully, I am feeling a bit better now and hopefully the coughing will go away so that it won’t affect me during the upcoming fasting period.

Batam ~ you are last on my travel list right now and no way am I going there again! Unless if ….Bah!
