It is important for me to have a plan for an event. The crucial thing to do is to list out the checklist. As I have about three months for the preparation, it is always an efficient idea to start early. Do not be fool by the number of days; it will just breeze past you almost instantaneously. If you are getting engage soon, you may refer to my checklist below as a guide. As my engagement is an intimate affair, I want it to be exclusive. This number of invites will definitely be lesser than the actual wedding.
The Engagement Checklist:
- Event administration: This is done to delegate task to family members on the work that they will be in-charged of. For an example, my sister will be in-charged of welcoming and serving the guest. My brother on the other hand will be in-charged of logistics. This would also mean to plan out a budget so that you will spend within your means.
- Printing of cards and invites: As this is a small function, invites can be channeled through medium like online social network like Facebook. User can log in to Facebook and create the invites. However, do make sure that the event is set to private.
- Decoration: You will need to source for materials like ribbons, cloths, flowers, wallpaper if you need to revamp the room for the event
- Gifts or Engagement favors: You will need to decide on what you would like to give the guest as a memento of the ceremony. This can range from personalized hand towel, candies, heart-shaped candles, cakes and many more. This would also depend on the budget that you will be putting aside for this area.
- Venue: You will need to decide on the place where the event will be held.
- Additional services: If applicable. For an example, you will need to rent tables and chairs for the guest.
- Entertainment and special program: Be creative and think of something out of the box.
- Food, Beverage and catering: This is critical and must be done ASAP. You will need to confirm and book a caterer a month before the event. You may discuss with the close family members on what would be the preferred selection. You can also give a call to the caterer for a food tasting.
- Transportation: If necessary.
- Photography: You would love to capture the moments of the blissful event. You may engage a photographer to assist you on that.
