During our first few dates, Andy and I had an awkward situation on deciding who is supposed to foot the bills. Traditionally, men are supposed to settle all the bills for all the dates. Agree? Well, I don’t. I believe in going Dutch (Lucky Andy!) Andy was paying for almost everything until one day I ask him, “Are you going to pay for everything?” It was then that I decide to have our very own petty cash. This would simply mean that any expenses which involves us such as dining out, movies, shopping for groceries, snacking and outings will be taken out from the petty cash. As Andy was agreeable to my idea which obviously makes sense, we top up about $300 per month in our account for the expenditures. This does not mean that we can spend all of it; we do take note of our budget and control our spending if possible. By doing so, we will not overspend and we are able to splurge on what we want knowing that we are in control of our budget.
On one of the days, Andy surprised me by giving me a Fred Perry package. It contains a wallet for us to keep our funds and other necessecities like our ATM cards discount cards. It works for us and I think it is time for you to do so too…especially those who are in a relationship.
