A wedding cake is somehow traditional when it comes to wedding. My question is, “Is it really a must to have that 2 or 3 tier wedding cake to be placed at the wedding event? The main point of having a cake is that for it to be served to the guest at a wedding reception. Ermm, I don’t see it happening now. It has become more of a decoration and an attraction. It is usually a large cake, multi-layered tiered and heavily decorated with icing over a layer of fondant. The average cost of a wedding cake is about SGD$500. (Can anyone sponsor me?)
Wedding toppers are becoming more of a hot favorite nowadays where figures of Bride and Groom are place right at the top of the cake as a form of togetherness. The flavors are usually vanilla sponge cake, chocolate sponge and fruit top tier. Another growing trend for wedding cakes is cupcakes. To imitate the tiers of a wedding cake, the cupcakes are placed on a stand and decorated in the wedding theme color or even with flowers. As for me, I don’t quite fancy the idea of a cup cake as I saw how wasteful it is at a recent wedding where it was not even distributed to the invites.
Recently, when I get to know that one of my friends, Lin Moose is in this wedding cake business line, I texted her right away and source for quotations. I browsed through those designs that interest me and made my selection. It is interesting that she also provide one to one classes on baking for example decorative cupcakes, Éclair and Puffs and many more. For more information, kindly add “Normah Ncakes” on Facebook and take your time to view all those lovely wedding cakes. They do cater for Engagement and Birthdays too.
