Randomly without any plans – Linda asked me out on a date to Bazaar Geylang. Two ladies yakking away during an extended lunch hours drove our way there with the intention of a last minute shopping. Shopping again? Hehehehe… I was thinking of getting a few more bottles of festive goodies for my mother or any last minute necessities.
Great! It wasn’t crowded at all or else I would have gotten cranky and temperamental. We have no idea on where to start looking first and so we why not start it off with the nearest? We entered an Islamic Bookstore and I told Linda that I have always wanted to get an English Translation of the Al-Quran. Linda nodded in agreement as she is also looking for the same thing. There were variety of choices – from different sizes to colors and designs and it costs about SGD$28.
After a while, it strikes me that since im here, why not we go search and look around for my telekong for prayers? The one that I have at home is a bit yellowish and it is just right that I get it replaced right away. Telekong is a white set of cloth to be worn over the body –from head to toes during the prayers. It is a good choice for wedding gifts or hantaran. A simple telekong will be all white in color. Nowadays, it is made of imported fabrics, fully embroidered which is made of 100% quality cotton making it feeling soft, cool and comfortable. Hmmm…now I can look pretty during my prayers!
I bought two sets for myself and Linda bought one for herself – a beautifully embroidered white cloth with black bead. It was gorgeous and it costs us about $38 per set. The one which i have bought costs me about $20 as it was not as elaborated designed as the one which Linda bought. As we were paying for the items, a light baby blue sejadah – prayer mat caught my attention. It feels so soft – how wonderful if I could do my prayers on this prayer mat! I didn’t purchase it as I already have 2 set of prayers mat at home. Next time maybe for the wedding gifts - can also get a matching set for Andy.
We went back to the car and began admiring our purchases. It wasn’t some branded bags, exquisite clothing or designers heels – all we had with us with the Holy book, prayers telekong and some prayer mats. The month of Ramadhan brought us closer to him and Insya-Allah, our daily prayers will be accepted by him. Hopefully... - as it is the only thing that keep me sane in life...
