The definition of Xenophobia refers to the feeling of “hatred or fear of foreigners or strangers or of their politics or culture”. Hatred or fear of the increasing numbers of FTs (referred as Foreign Talents)? It didn’t really bother me or bug me initially. I’ve worked with foreigners before and most of them have a good working ethics and they are nice people to work with. They are willing to share their skills and work experiences and we become good working colleagues. Thus, I didn’t have much of a complaint on the surge in the number of foreigners.
It’s kind of sad to receive all this baseless comments from a foreigner. Yes, it is a freedom of speech in Singapore. For goodness sake, do it else where ~ in your own community forum or my point is somewhere else! Not in the Singapore MP Facebook Page! She can just do it at her private Facebook wall! Where it can only be seen privately and not by everyone! Hogging the page and bootlicking for support with the wrong reasons! Thus, causing the lid suppressing the frustration of Singaporeans to burst open and eventually lead to a non stop and continuous floodgate of anger and dissatisfaction.
Her comments were indeed thoughtless, careless and insensitive. Pardon me! But that’s what I felt. The way I see it, those silly remarks were insulting and ungrateful. She does have her rights to vent her frustrations against Singaporean but as I have said earlier, kindly refrain from doing it at the wrong media platform. She should try learning to channel her frustration against us in the correct direction and not by humiliating us.
I applaud the NHC’s (National Heart Centre) prompt action and responses at their page at the reputation damage and taking appropriate actions against Ms Rachelle. Quoted from NHC status update:
From my view, this doesn’t seem to be the case. Its contradicting and I question if they have provided the same training to support a clerk?
The effect of this damaging statement once uttered in public views cannot be erased even if the physical messaged has been erased by the owner. It will still stay in our mind and how badly affected we are by her indiscreet and foolish comments. Yes, it was a mistake on her part and she has indeed apologized and unfortunately her Singaporean has admitted that he was the one who has posted the unethical remarks using Ms Rachelle account. How convenient! A simply mistake and easy error like this comes with an unforgiving outcome and in years to come Singaporeans will still remember this ongoing saga….
Until recently, I was appalled when I came across an unappealing and inflammatory comment on Singapore MP Penny Low. A Filipino ‘foreign talent’ by the name of Rachelle Ann Beguia has jumped to the defense of Penny Low and causing a massive outcry among the Netizen which includes me by posting her derogatory remarks and comments which belittle Singaporeans. Myself as a pure Singaporean, I felt insulted by her comments and the worst thing was the comment was posted a day after our National Day where all the Singaporean were still celebrating their independence day.
